Bayern, Dortmund win to stay tight at the top of Bundesliga

BERLIN: Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund remained neck and neck at the top of the German Bundesliga table after 2-1 wins over Mainz and Elversberg on Saturday.

Bayern and Dortmund, who drew 2-2 in Munich last Saturday, are locked on 21 points, with the defending champions ahead on goal difference after nine rounds.

Phillip Tietz’s stoppage-time goal came too late for the hosts to try and mount a comeback as Bayern won for just the third time in their past seven Bundesliga matches at Mainz.

Goalless in three games since winning the Ballon d’Or in late October, Kane set up Joshua Kimmich’s opener after 14 minutes and laid on a second-half goal for Lennart Karl.
