Watch: Israel’s president to select candidate to form government on Sunday

Israeli President Isaac Herzog said on Thursday that he will announce his chosen candidate to form a government on Sunday (8 November).
Herzog said that the elected parties representing 67 of parliament’s 120 elected lawmakers picked Israeli opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot, while factions representing 46 lawmakers picked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israel’s 27 October election ended in deadlock, with neither Netanyahu nor Eisenkot securing a clear path to a parliamentary majority.
